Accounts can be opened either in one name or jointly with one other person. Accounts must be in personal names (no Company or Trading Accounts) and funds cannot be held in Trust for another person.

Your account will be opened with a security hold placed on it, allowing you to deposit freely into the account, but blocking withdrawals. To have this security hold removed you (and any joint account holders) must attend a branch of the Commonwealth Bank to be identified. If you are unable to attend a branch of the Commonwealth, please contact them on +44 (0)20 7710 3990 to discuss your options.

Debit cards will be ordered and sent to your nominated branch for pick-up. They can take up to 7 working days to arrive at the branch, so please keep this in mind when opening your account if you are applying for it within a week of your arrival. You will need to attend the branch with a copy of your account details and your passport for ID purposes.
