The Box

  • You need your wits for this break. It is a very fast take-off, right, breaking over a rocky ledge. Works best in 2 metres plus south-westerly swells. Only for the most experienced and insane surfers, it is rarely surfed.

Rivermouth

Surfers Point

  • This is big wave surfing for very experienced surfers only. The break here is a fairly consistent big peak, works best in south-westerly to westerly swells and easterly to south-easterly winds. When the swell is over 3 metres the left will line up all the way into the bay, if you survive the vertical drop take-off. There is also a decent right here. Seriously experienced surfers only.

Southside

  • Located about 200 metres out, this can be a long left and right reef break. Works best in 1.5 to 2.5 metres south-west to westerly swells. This has a serious steep take-off over a very shallow reef. Many surfers have lost a board here. It is not a place for the faint hearted. Again very experienced surfers only.

The Bommie

  • This is one of the classic big waves around here. There is a left and sometimes a right breaking over a reef. This is a massive wave when the south to south-westerly swell is 3 metres plus. Only for serious experienced big wave riders.

Boat Ramps

  • This place can produce an excellent left hand outer reef break that holds up to 4 metre west to south westerly swells. Again only for serious experienced big wave riders.

Grunters

  • It is a big paddle out, but when this place is working it is worth it. There is a serious powerful right reef break, with a stomach dropping vertical take-off. It holds up to about a 3 metre west to south-westerly swell. Only the most experienced need attempt this one.
