
The Old Timer's Mine is an original opal mine dating back to 1916. It was rediscovered in 1968 when an underground home extension broke through accidentally, revealing a maze of tunnels and a wealth of opal, which is still there for you to see today.

The gallery opened in 2009 and hosts one of South Australia's largest regional Aboriginal Art Galleries with works from both world renowned and local artists. There is also an opal showroom, opal mine and museum.
Located here is also a kangaroo orphanage, where you can learn how the "big red" kangaroo, survives and prospers in the harsh conditions of the Australian Outback. You can view the baby kangaroos twice daily at 12.30 and 5 pm.
There is also an extensive collection of didgeridoos, boomerangs and other artifacts, which are available for purchase. (Didgeridoo lessons also available).

This underground museum includes a detailed historical content on the town, an Aboriginal Interpretive Centre, an underground home, and an on site mine which runs tours daily. There is also an impressive collection of some of the world's finest opals on display.
