Cairns Esplanade

The Esplanade is a fantastic location for many different activities. You can swim in the beautiful lagoon, which is set on the Cairns foreshore overlooking the Great Barrier Reef and Trinity Inlet. You can sunbake and laze on the lush grasses, go for a run on the scenic boardwalk or check out some of the regular live music and entertainment. There is also the Esplanade markets every Saturday.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

The Skyrail experience, travels 7.5 km's over pristine rainforest from Cairns to Kuranda by gliding just metres above the rainforest canopy in comfortable six-person gondola cabins.

You can stop at Skyrail's two rainforest mid-stations, Red Peak and Barron Falls, where you'll explore this amazing environment from the forest floor on boardwalks, scenic look-outs and in the state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretation Centre.

Kuranda Scenic Railway

The original Kuranda Scenic Railway is a spectacular journey comprising unsurpassed views of dense rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls. This famous railway winds its way on a journey of approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from Cairns to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest.

The Savannahlander train journey

The Savannahlander is the outback rail adventure. The train travels from Cairns to the gulf savannah weekly. Highlights of the trip include the scenic Kuranda range, Chillagoe caves, Cobbold Gorge and Undara lava tubes.
