Brisbane shopping

There are plenty of places to find good shopping in downtown Brisbane. In the city area there is one main pedestrian mall, Queen Street Mall. Most shops are located either in the mall, or in several streets adjacent and parallel to the mall. In this area there are hundreds of specialty stores, along with several arcades, shopping centres, department stores, supermarket and plenty of places to eat.

Just one suburb away is Fortitude Valley, or 'The Valley' as it is called by locals. This place has become one of the main destinations in the city for restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. It is also a good place for shopping, particularly to find some original fashions. Most of the stores are located around the Brunswick Street Pedestrian Mall. Brisbane's China Town is also located in the Valley.

There are also numerous other major shopping centres and main street shopping areas located throughout the outer suburbs of Brisbane providing more great shopping opportunities.

Most shops are open seven days a week in the city and in the suburban shopping centres. There is also late night shopping in the suburbs on Thursday nights until 9pm and in the city on Friday nights until 9pm.

Southbank Markets

These markets are a great spot if you are interested in picking up some local arts and crafts, fashions, jewellery and fresh produce. There is also usually buskers and other live entertainment going on in the markets, giving the place a lively, fun atmosphere. The markets are located at the popular Southbank Parklands, which are just across the river from the city.

The markets are held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday - Friday: 5pm - 10pm, Saturday: 11am - 5pm & Sunday: 9am - 5pm.
