Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park

This park contains significant Aboriginal cultural values including cultural sites demonstrating the continuous use of the area by Aboriginal people for many thousands of years. It also protects undisturbed coastal dune system, patches of rainforests, palm forests, coastal shrubland, and heath, and the estuarine communities of mangroves, salt marsh and seagrass beds along Warrell Creek.

This is a stunning coastal and estuarine environment. Anyone who has been lucky enough to boat on Warrell Creek, 4WD along Gaagal Wanggaan, the original name for South Beach, or a walk on the peninsular can attest to its beauty and the need to protect the area into the future.

The park is a good place for bushwalking (hiking), fishing, and swimming.

Camping

Limited camping is available.
