Victorian High Country & Ski Fields Highlights

  • An area that incorporates small charming villages, alpine ski resorts and some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery in Victoria.

  • In the winter months, the mountain peaks are covered in snow and the region is a great place for snow  skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and snow tubing.

  • In the warmer months, the region is a popular place for adventure and adrenaline activities such as mountain biking, abseiling, rock climbing, white-water rafting, kayaking, horse riding and bushwalking (hiking).

  • Spend several days visiting the charming villages and towns and experiencing the gourmet restaurants, cafes and boutique wineries.

  • Undertake part of, or all of the Australian Alps Walking Track, a 650 kilometre long track that begins in the old gold-mining town of Walhalla and ends near the nations capital - Canberra.

  • Bushwalk (hike) one of the extensive network of tracks and trails around Victoria's highest peaks, offering challenging terrain and breathtaking views over the stunning alpine landscape.

The Victorian High Country is an area that incorporates small charming villages, alpine ski resorts and some of the most beautiful and spectacular scenery in Victoria.

The main towns, villages and resorts in this region include; Mount Buller, Falls Creek, Mount Beauty, Mount Hotham, Lake Mountain, Mount Baw Baw, Dinner Plain, Mount Stirling and Harrietville.

In the winter months, the beautiful mountain peaks are covered in snow and the seven alpine resorts are packed with visitors partaking in skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, cross-country skiing and snow tubing.

In the warmer months, the region is a popular place for adventure activities such as mountain biking, abseiling, rock climbing, white-water rafting, kayaking, horse riding and bush walking (hiking).

If you're after something a little more relaxing, you can spend several days visiting the charming villages and towns and experiencing the gourmet restaurants, cafes and boutique wineries.
