Mansfield Highlights

  • There are plenty of options for mountain biking. You can take an easy cruise along old mountain cattle trails or seek some adrenalin and nearby Mount Buller on a world class downhill track.

  • This area is very popular for horse trail riding and you can take a trail ride up into the spectacular High Country.

  • Good base to nearby Mount Buller and Mt Stirling, which are great for winter skiing. Nearby Mount Buller has a variety of skiing terrains ranging from beginner to some of the most challenging runs in the country. Mt Stirling is best known for cross-country skiing.

  • Lake Eildon National Park is nearby is is well known as a great place for all types of water activities including boating, skiing and fishing, as well as protected areas for swimming.

  • Head to nearby Alpine National Park where extensive snowfields are the primary winter attraction and in the warmer months there are stunning wildflower displays and opportunities for bushwalks and four wheel driving.

  • Mansfield Zoo has a large collection of exotic and native animals on 30 acres of picturesque parkland.

  • Take the time to stop in at some of the the local boutique wineries.

About Mansfield

Population 2,500

This small, charming, sub-alpine town is situated on Fords Creek in a pretty valley, which is also surrounded by the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. It is a great base for outdoor activities such as horse riding, mountain biking, bushwalking and four-wheel driving.

Mansfield is also closely located to the Victorian ski-fields, making it is essentially a resort town and a great winter base for those heading to Mount Buller, or Mt Stirling to do some skiing. Mount Buller has a variety of skiing terrains ranging from beginner to very challenging and Mt Stirling is best known for its excellent cross-country skiing.
           
Mansfield is also very close to Lake Eildon and the Howqua and Delatite Rivers. Here you can partake in a variety of water sports, including canoeing, kayaking, fishing and swimming.
