About Lakes Entrance
Population 5,200
This tourist town is also Victoria's largest fishing port. It is the major commercial town in the Gippsland Lakes region and provides a good place to stay while exploring the Lakes District.
The region is a collection of saltwater lakes and small wilderness islands, and is very popular in the summer months with tourists. A short distance from town is the famed Ninety Mile Beach that borders the Lakes District.
