About Geelong

Population 240,000

Geelong is Victoria's second largest city and offers a range of attractions along with an interesting colonial history.

There is a relatively large student population here from Deakin University, so you will often find the pubs and bars around the university lively places full of students.

Another good place to check out is around Pakington Street, where you will find a contemporary, edgy area, with a diverse range of places to eat and drink.

The waterfront area is also a popular place to hang out, offering a good range of waterfront eateries. While you are there, check out the interesting sculptured ballards along the foreshore that chronicle characters from the city's past and present and nearby at Eastern Beach is an art deco-style pool and promenade complex worth a look. 

The city is also gateway to the nearby Bellarine Peninsula and Great Ocean Road, where you will find some of Victoria's best surfing beaches and stunning coastal scenery.
