This small holiday town is built around the Anglesea River, approximately 16 kilometres southeast of Torquay along the Great Ocean Road. The town sits on a wide sandy beach, which is ideal for surfing and swimming and is also a popular place for sailboarders when the wind is up.
The town is a great place to discover on foot. There is the 30 kilometre Surf Coast Walk, which passes through the town, along the coast and inland beside the Anglesea River. Coogoorah Park, which adjoins the river, also has a series of walking tracks and boardwalks through native bush and wetlands.
The Great Otway National Park's northern section begins just near Anglesea. This park is renowned for its spectacularly rugged coastline and has some of Victoria's most striking waterfalls and other attractions.
