King Island Highlights

About King Island


King Island is located off the north west coast of Tasmania. The island is known for its rocky coastline, shipwreck sites, fresh seafood, abundant wildlife and premium dairy products from the King Island Dairy.

Currie is the main settlement on the island and here you will find shops, services and places to eat.

Activities you can do on the island include; diving to explore the many shipwreck sites, fishing charters, surf one of the best waves on the planet, see some of the abundant wildlife such as wallabies and the elusive platypus, spot one of the 78 species of birds, go bushwalking (hiking) or visit the King Island Dairy and sample some of the finest dairy products in Australia.
