About Burnie

Population 20,000

Burnie overlooks Emu Bay on the north-west coast. There is quite a strong industrial feel here as it has Australia's fifth largest container port.

There are quite a few attractions in and around Burnie including Burnie Park and animal reserve, Australia's biggest eucalypt tree farm, Cheese Tasting Factory, Hellyers Road Whisky Distillery, Creative Paper Mill and the Platypus Sanctuary at Ferngrove.

Burnie is also approximately 90 minutes drive from Tasmania's most famous natural attraction, Cradle Mountain.
