Port Augusta Highlights

  • Port Augusta is not too far from the spectacular Flinders Ranges, where you can climb Mount Remarkable for some amazing views of the region, see the amazing natural amphitheatre of Wilpena Pound, or experience arid outback Australia.

About Port Augusta

Population 13,000

This is where roads from Adelaide, the Flinders Ranges, Alice Springs, Perth and Whyalla all intersect. Being a medium sized town you will find services, shops and places to eat and stay.

The town is home to the Wadlata Outback Centre - a great place to check out if you are heading to the Flinders Ranges and Outback. 

Just outside of the town is the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens, which provides a fascinating insight into the Outback's plant and bird life.
