Kangaroo Island Highlights

  • There is an abundance of amazing wildlife such as kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, possums, platypus, sea-lions, fur-seals and so many more. The best way to see some of the local creatures is to walk among one of the islands many national, conservation, private parks and sanctuaries, or to take a guided tour.

  • See spectacular and varied landscapes in the national and conservation parks, which take up about one third of the island.

  • Explore the stunning limestone caves at Kelly Hill Conservation Park.

  • Great surfing location around the island, most for the more experienced surfer.

  • Have some fun and take a ride on a quad bike through 500 acres of rugged bushland trails and open grassland.

  • Go sandboarding or tobogganing on the massive sand dunes, known as Little Sahara.

  • Go on a scuba diving safari to see a vast array of marine life, walls of Gorgonia corals, sponges, Leafy Sea-dragons or some of the over 50 recorded shipwrecks in the area.

  • Visit Vivonne Bay, which has been voted as one of the 'best beaches' in Australia after extensive research by Sydney University. Alternatively, chill out on one of the many other secluded beaches.

About Kangaroo Island

This is an amazing island full of native wildlife, spectacular landscapes and natural attractions including secluded beaches, rugged coastline, desert dunes and ancient forests.

More than one third of the island is covered by national and conservation parks and this place is teaming with wildlife such as kangaroos, koalas, wallabies, possums, platypus, sea-lions, fur-seals and so many others. It won't take you long before you see some of these local creatures.

This island is big, in fact it is Australia's third largest island at over 150 km long and up to 57 km wide, so give yourself some time here to explore.

Apart from the nature lover experiences, there are farms, wineries and other places that produce some excellent local produce. There are also a variety of small towns where you can visit some nice cafes, restaurants and stores.

Kingscote
