Yeppoon & Emu Park Highlights

  • The region has many great beach and secluded bays, which offer good swimming conditions and are a nice place to chill and enjoy the sunshine.

  • Capricorn Coast National Park is nearby. The park offers interesting scenery to explore, including coastal volcanic headlands with intriguing rock formations, scenic lookouts and a variety of short walks.

  • Explore Byfield National with its massive parabolic sand dunes and the rugged pinnacles of The Peaks and Mount Atherton.

  • Just off the coast is Great Keppel Island and the Keppel Islands National Park. These islands are fringed by stunning coral gardens, turquoise waters and white sandy beaches and are excellent places for diving and snorkelling.

  • If you want to experience some local wildlife, you could head to Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary or Koorana Crocodile Farm.

About Yeppoon & Emu Park

Yeppoon is situated 38 kilometres northeast of Rockhampton and is the gateway to the Capricorn Coast. Emu Park is just a scenic 20 kilometre drive along the coast from Yeppoon.

The Capricorn Coast has many great beach and secluded bays, which offer good swimming conditions and are a nice place to chill and enjoy the sunshine.

Both towns offer a laidback tropical lifestyle, as well as good places to eat, drink and shop.

Capricorn Coast National Park is nearby, which offers interesting scenery to explore, including coastal volcanic headlands with intriguing rock formations, scenic lookouts and a variety of short walks through diverse plant communities.

There is also Byfield National with its massive parabolic sand dunes that occupy most of the southern part of the park and in the north, the rugged pinnacles of The Peaks and Mount Atherton dominate the landscape.

Located just off the coast is Great Keppel Island and the Keppel Islands National Park. These islands are fringed by stunning coral gardens, turquoise waters and white sandy beaches and are excellent places for diving and snorkelling.

If you want to experience some local wildlife, you could head to Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can cuddle a koala, hold a crocodile, snake or lizard, play with birds and dingoes and hand feed friendly kangaroos. There is also Koorana Crocodile Farm, where you can see a croc that weighs over three quarters of a tonne.


There is plenty to do in this region and the Capricorn Coast offers a nice side trip destination when heading north.
