About Toowoomba

Population 90,000

Toowoomba sits on the edge of the Great Dividing Range, 800 metres above sea level, and is Australia's largest inland regional city.It is considered Queensland's Garden City with more than 240 public parks and gardens. It is also the commercial centre for the Darling Downs region and has plenty of shops, places to eat and drink and services.

One of the main attractions is Picnic Point, where you can witness the spectacular view over the Lockyer Valley below. From here you can also explore the escarpment on one of the walking tracks.

The city is close to two national parks. There is Ravensbourne National Park, which preserves the best remaining examples of the rainforest that originally covered this part of the Great Dividing Range. Crows Nest National Park has spectacular creek scenery, granite outcrops, a scenic waterfall and eucalypt forest.

You can also learn about the region's history in the Cobb & Co Museum, or view local art in the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery. A little further away at Oakey is the Museum of Australian Army Flying, which includes aircraft and other memorabilia.
