About Mission Beach
Population 1,100
This small stretch of coast is where two World Heritage areas, The Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest, come together to form a tropical paradise. There are several small settlements dotted along the 14 kilometres of Mission Beach including; North Mission Beach, Wongaling, Bingil Bay and South Mission Beach.
The place has become popular with backpackers as it is the perfect location to chill out, take a boat trip out to The Great Barrier Reef, Dunk Island and other nearby islands, go white water rafting on the Tully River, or walk or mountain bike through the rainforests. Other activities available include skydiving, horse riding, fishing and sailing.
