About Yamba

Population 5,000

Known to have one of the best climates in Australia, with long sunny summers and mild winters, Yamba has become a popular coastal holiday resort town.

The town has some great restaurants and cafes, particularly if you are looking for excellent seafood. This is because the area catches around 20% of New South Wales' seafood.

Yamba has lovely sandy beaches, which are good for swimming and surfing in the right conditions. If you love fishing there is a range of opportunities available, including rock, beach, estuary or deep-sea fishing.

The town is near the Iluka Nature Reserve, which is part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. The Reserve is well-known for its bird life and small remnants of coastal rainforest, which were once extensive in the region.
