Population 45,000
The city of Lismore is located 35 km inland from Ballina on the Wilson River. It is the commercial and cultural hub of the Northern Rivers and provides many of the major services for the region.
Lismore houses the Southern Cross University and because of the student population of around 5,000, there are some good funky, cheap cafes to eat at, and some lively pubs to spend an evening enjoying some live music.
There are World Heritage listed rainforests and National Parks within easy reach from Lismore and even a rainforest in the city centre.
