Go sailboarding or canoeing at Lake Ainsworth, or swim in the brown coloured water, which is caused by the tannins from the surrounding tea trees and is said to be beneficial for your skin.
Only a few kilometres off the coast at Lennox Head, Humpback Whales makes their annual migration up the Australian east coast from May through to December. The headland here is a great lookout to see them.

Lennox Head is famous for its surf beaches, particularly during the winter months, where it is ranked as one the best places in the world, with an awesome right-hand break (not for beginners).
The town itself is a quieter seaside place than Byron Bay, which is only 15 minutes drive up the road. There are good places to eat and have a drink or do some shopping at one of the surf shops.
Lake Ainsworth is to the north of the town and provides a nice spot for sailboarding and canoeing. The lake is brown in colour due to the tannins from the surrounding tea trees, and swimming in it is said to be beneficial for your skin.
