About Coffs Harbour

Population 70,000

Coffs Harbour offers excellent beaches, plenty of activities (both in the water and on the land), good food and a variety of accommodation types.

The city of Coffs Harbour is the holiday capital of New South Wales. It has a subtropical climate and according to the CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation - the national government body for scientific research in Australia), it has the best climate in Australia.

The city is situated in a beautiful location, where the surrounding mountains approach the sea. It is well known for the large banana growing areas that surround the city. The "Big Banana" (an iconic Australian attraction worth getting a photo of), is located at the northern end of the city and provides information, food and attractions that relate to the banana growing industry.

Coffs Harbour is a mecca for those wanting to partake in some adrenaline activates; such as white-water rafting and kayaking in the Nymboida and Goolang Rivers, scuba diving in the nationally recognised marine park of the Solitary Islands, four wheel driving through the surrounding magnificent countryside and surf rafting and sea kayaking at Diggers Beach.

It is also a great place for surfing with some stunning beaches located right at the city edge. If you want some less strenuous activities, you could do some fishing, or you could try and do some whale spotting during their migrating months.

Nearby the city is the Bindarri National Park, here you will find spectacular waterfalls, rainforests and amazing views. You could also discover the wonders of World Heritage listed rainforest areas in Dorrigo National Park. Here you will find great walking and birdwatching tracks, which meander their way through lush sub-tropical rainforest and waterfalls and provide some breath-taking views.

There is so much to do and see in and around Coffs Harbour and is a great place to spend a few days.
